During this coronavirus pandemic, your doctors and staff at Family Practice Associates are still available for your health care needs.
Thanks to advanced technology of our electronic medical record system, we can now offer Televisits, which are audio/video visits that you make from your home.
These are similar to "FaceTime", but in a secure, encrypted format.
Don’t feel concerned about your ability to have medical needs addressed in our current time of limited in-person interaction.
Call our office at (830) 896-4711 to schedule an appointment for both chronic and acute conditions. Our office staff will assist you to determine if a Televisit will be right for you
SETTING UP THE HEALOW APP
- Download and install the Healow App from your device’s app store
- Near the top of the screen, you will see three different methods to look up our Practice (Family Practice Associates) Select the search method “Practice Code/Telephone Number” Then enter our practice code HHCCAA. You should now be able to select Family Practice Associates as your medical facility.
- You will need to then enter your user name and password (the same credentials used to login to our Patient Portal from the FPA website) If you are not sure what your credentials are, please select the option “Having Trouble Logging In” and follow the prompts to receive the reset for credentials.
- Again, continue to follow the prompts. Once you have successfully logged in to the Healow app for the first time, you will be asked some personal identification questions and then asked to set your own password. You should then be asked to login with your new password. Again, please follow the prompts. The Healow App will then ask you to create a 4-digit PIN to more easily access your account on the Healow App.
- After successfully logging in and accepting the Terms of Use, the Healow App will give you some brief instructions on how to navigate around within the Healow App.
JOINING YOUR SCHEDULED TELEHEALTH VISIT
- Within 10 minutes after Family Practice schedules your TeleHealth Visit, from the main screen of the Healow App, at the top of the Healow Wheel, you should the “Appointments” portion with a red notification signaling your scheduled appointment with your Provider. Click on “Appointments” to view your scheduled appointment.
- At the bottom of your screen, you should see on orange button that says “Start Televisit”
- You will then be asked to submit any vitals that you are able to check from home (Temperature, Blood Pressure, Weight, Height, Pulse and Respirations. YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO DO THIS, it is only suggested if you have the capability to do so. Once you are done or would prefer not to fill out your vitals, you may click “Submit” at the bottom.
- You may then select “Start Televisit” to be placed in the Virtual Waiting Room, and this way your Provider will know that you are ready when they are.
- You should expect your Provider’s Nurse to call you before the TeleHealth appointment via telephone to ask the usual questions regarding your Visit.
- We recommend that you “Check In” to your TeleHealth Visit within at least 15 minutes of your scheduled Appointment, just as you would for a normal Office Visit.
